Gloomy Planets from benjamin & stefan ramirez perez on Vimeo.
Apparently Notwist asked Benjamin & Stefan Ramirez Perez (Germany? Canada?) to realize a clip for their song Gloomy Planets, but finally the group weren’t happy with the work and decided to not release it as an official video. It seems hard to believe beacuse the video is close to Notwist mood and style and very impressive.
What I love the most in this video is that the scratches seems almost random at the beginnig but they slowly become meaningfull, representing clearly a sort of energy that comes from the woods.
Benjamin & Stefan shoot with a sony pmw ex1 and the second half with a sony hcr90. They printed all the frames (8-9 thousand frames!), manually scratched them one by one, and then scanning them again one by one.
